Gearbox and coilover questions
Hi all and merry Christmas. Got a couple of queries about my 2003 1.8 S40.
Firstly, I have totally fallen out with the Renault boxes. I have owned three s40's and all had failures from the French box. I heard the m56 was an option. How difficult is it to fit one a s a replacement? I would add a new clutch, new seals and new link bushes anyway so it will last as long as possible. Need another jc5 box but they are seriously rare and the m56 are plentiful at the moment. Secondly, I had fk coilovers on my old one that were ok but every pothole felt like I had jumped dukes of hazzard style over a river or something. I was told as the car shares with the charisma that some of the Evo parts are similar and a lot cheaper for better quality. Is this true? BC coilovers for Volvo are £1200+ but tein for the Evo are £600 ISH. Thanks in advance. James |

In addition to the box you will also need two driveshafts to suit and the complete gearchange mechanism as it is all totally different. That is the minimum, but most likely there will be numerous other small items also.
