Default What weight do you tow?

I was wondering after pulling my new twin wheel van over the weekend was what other users of the forum are pulling with their XC60?

I've got a D4 AWD 2013 pulling a max of 1739 with 90 on the ball.

I was also wondering how many were pulling tw vans with their 60's and how they cope with 90kgs on the ball?

Mine is around 6% of the max weight which is slap bang in the middle of the recommended 5/7% of max weight on the ball.

I've had my 60 for two years now and considering a new 90 next year with I believe 130kgs on the ball and 2700 kerb weight.

I am pulling a single axle 1600kg with 90kg on the ball, which is about 5.6% of caravan weight. Tows very well gives about 26mpg.

Not much advantage in going over 100kg ball limit on the car as I believe most caravan chassis are limited to 100kg anyway

Steve, you are right, Al-Ko and BPW chassis "A" frames have a 100kg weight limit.

Like you, I tow a 1600kg single axle without any problems.

If you have a Volvo tow bar then the maximum nose weight of the caravan should not exceed 90kgs. Not a great selling point for the XC60 as lots of other 4x4s exceed 100kgs but just about manageable with putting most things in the back and filling up the car.

If you put any other make of tow bar on, then check the nose weight limit and with your dealer as you may invalidate your warranty.

Anyway, we have a D5 SE LUX Auto (215bhp) and it's a dream to pull our Bailey Pageant Series 7 'Provence'. If ordering from new, I'd recommend anyone to have the load adjusting option installed.

Got a 2013 AWD SE and tow a single wheel 'van with a max of 1460kg. Don't think I've ever loaded it any where near 1460kg though. Haven't checked the noseweight but will do so on next excursion. Anyway it tows a dream and I have to remind myself I am towing because it is just so smooth and fuss free.

I am currently awaiting a reply from the insurance company about my 'van which was severely battered by massive hailstones on July1st/2nd.

The 90kg nose weight specified by Volvo relates to the car not the towbar. It doesn't matter which make of towbar is fitted and what is says on the towbar xc60 is restricted to a max of 90kg. If you are stopped for a check and found to be over the manucturers limit you can be prosecuted.
