I'm making a guess at what year yours is but this might help :

http://www.myvolvolibrary.info/Tech_...Y89_wiring.pdf

First page, item 188 is the cold start injector, it's only active on a cold engine with the starter running though.

What are the symptoms you've got?

Default cold start

That's a very usefull diagram, will check it all out at the weekend.
Symptoms are a poor cold start,I thought it was lack of fuel pressure ,so I checked all pumps ,one way valves etc.Wired in a switch so I could prime both fuel pumps, but no better.Removed cold start valve the other day to observe if it worked and it did,nt.Still plumbed and wired in, so I guessed there must be an issue somewhere. Thanks for the help,Dave

That begs the question - when were you expecting it to operate?

If, like a lot of people, you were expecting it to operate with the engine cold and running you'd be disappointed.

Have you checked things like the dizzy cap and rotor arm? Both well known cold start problems, especially if the carbon brush is worn (or worse still, broken) in the dizzy cap.
Also what plugs and plug gap are you running and when were they last changed?

Default sorted!

Got the problem sorted! After much checking and faffing around I found that the connector on the thermo time switch had been reversed, took me a while to get my brain cell round that one!
Thanks for the help and info.Dave
