V90 dash lights. Issue

Hi(1st post) I have a V90 r design owned for 6 month's.
My centre display and driver display occasionally just brightens up of its own free will on occasions any one knowno why???
My thoughts either a safety warning or a fault.

Or perhaps after the headlights go on and go off again, as happens when driving under a bridge during daylight?

The display brightness automatically adjusts to suit the ambient light.
However, it does not seem to do it gradually, there is a noticeable sudden change. (At least there is on my car.)

It is most noticeable if the light level is near the trigger point, then as you drive in and out of shadows the display light level can change frequently.

That's exactly what our XC90 does. In that respect, I found our XC70 much better.
I also find the jumps in lighting to big and to sudden. When driving during the early morning in the dark,
the moment the car decides to switch to daylight setting, the displays are far to bright.
It helps to turn off navigation in the center of the drivers display and to choose night colors for the map
in the center display or turn the center display off, but these are merely workarounds. Contrary to classic
gauges, the displays of Sensus cars are big surfaces that emit light. I feel this calls for a different lighting strategy.

As others have said the car switches from day mode to night mode and vica versa.

In day mode the dash is full brightness and you cannot dim it with the thumbwheel. In night mode you can dim it right down with the thumbwheel.

If you have the dash dimmed right down in the dark (driving to work at circa 8am at the moment perhaps) and then the car gets just enough dawn light to decide it is actually daytime then the change can be quite stark.

At night there is far too much light in the car too. I dim the dash lights right down to the lowest setting and turn off the central screen by a long press on the button. I also sometimes hang my woolly hat over my crystal knob (pnarr pnarr) as that is also surprisingly bright.
