Well it was £18000 two or three years ago , However you do not buy a new battery you get it repaired/reconditioned by Volvo at a "reasonable" price ... Remember they have an 8 year warranty and also that every year which passes the range reduces ...

If Volvo recondition the batteries (which makes perfect sense if it's just one dead cell) it would be better and more informative if they quoted a standard replacement cost rather than some theoretical new price. For the reasons I gave in post #4, the £22k is clearly just notional.

I look forward to getting an electric car but the wider industry has to get real about what these cars will be like after a few years. It would seem that hiring or leasing is far preferable to buying but of course the monthly payment is ultimately dependent upon the residual value.

Picked the car up on Wednesday, made a number of short and long journeys and all seems fine. Apparently a cell was replaced in the battery by the Volvo UK tech, tested and all OK.
They've done a software update too as the centre display now shows a checklist of the safety features when you start the car.

Is that 8 years and unlimited mileage or with a mileage limit? My T8 will be at 55k miles at 2 years old....

8 year or 100k whichever is reached first, same as all electric vehicles I believe, not sure if that's a EU law or not but seems to be everyone has that same warranty on the drivetrain on electrics.

I was told on Friday that a battery was 18k, not sure if that was plus or including VAT mind....
