Same here with regard to the tow bar, i’ve got an xc60 T8 on order, due for delivery in 2 weeks - dealer confirmed its been put through for factory fitment after i sent him some of the pictures of the horrendous dealer fitted cutouts ive seen.

My XC90 was a re-specced ‘dealer stock car switched to a customer sold car’ ordered 3 weeks ago against a Feb del slot. When the factory fitted towbar was added the expected delivery date went into March and Volvo (allegedly) told the dealer it was because they were waiting for homologation on the factory fitted towbars as opposed to dealer fitted. He also said the order may come forwards to Feb anyway. Hope yours arrives as it should in 2 weeks and maybe, with XC60 being a newer model, homologation is already sorted on that model.

What are you planning on towing with the T8?

My XC90 T8 (MY18) was, according to Volvo's 'Vista' build record, built about a week before shipping. It was ordered with a tow-bar which as far as I know, was factory fitted. Seeing the comments about 'all towbars are dealer fitted' was a surprise as:

a. I know I collected my car only 2 days after it had arrived at the dealer and

b. Having read-through the Volvo (accessories) fitting process for the towbar, I can't imagine the dealer would have had time to get that, and the PDI done in the time.

Mind you, I've been wrong before!

As an aside, the fitting process replaces some pretty major structural parts on the car and it seems wasteful if the dealer just 'junks' them. I'd have thought if the factory fits the towbar these items are either re-cycled or perhaps the 'bar is fitted on the line as being the most efficient process. After all, other customisation is done 'in the build', why not the towbar too? Having said all that, the pictures of bodged dealer-fit towbar installations can't lie....

Cheers, Andy

Cheers - recalled reading somewhere of an xc90 t8 owner who was finding it crap for towing due to small tank / pathetic range when towing ...
