use the t6 engine ,, must be plenty around in scrapped early s80's and xc 90 .. They are small turbochargers for low boost just an extra 68 bhp assuming it is the 6 cylinder .

What are you doing with a white-block? You're supposed to be a red-block person!!

The 6 pot is a nice silky smooth engine, just want to be only a little less gutless and closer to being able to keep up with a redblock

There is a man who has a garage and breaks Volvos in Pluckley (Kent) who is trying to put a T6 with a RWD whiteblock into a 9 of some sort. I forget whether it's a 94 or 96. I second that the standard autobox in the 960 is a pile of sh1t, I have TWO gigantic atf coolers on mine, and the box is only behind a standard mark II 6 pot, and it still plays up on hot days and needs new atf fluid annually! And don't talk to me about the 6-pot overheating when towing. A D088 rad has FINALLY fixed that but I've had to scrap the undertray and have one fabricated in chequerplate.

I've picked up a T6 inlet manifold and will adapt a throttle body onto that as a start to the project.

I have no overheating troubles at all with mine even when doing a spot of towing (I dont tow anything heavy for long, use the 240 for that as it has a higher towing capacity) I will be adding a extra gearbox oil cooler

Ive towed all sorts of things with my 960 and its never overheated, even when the radiator sprung a leak the temp gauge don't budge
