Default Rattle behind speedo

i have seen the thread on the centre stack rattle and am assuming that is the floating console.
I have a rattle that seems to come from behind the speedo (analog) which is a bit intermittent. Also appears to be a buzzing kind of sound and is often set off on the ****ty harsh road surfaces here in Lincolnshire.
I have done 18k and was going to wait until the next service but my patience may not last that long. Anyone else experienced this?

I've got a buzzing kind of rattle too from the same area, but I've now realised it is coming from my two house keys attached to the ignition fob and rattling against the centre console trim! Just thought I would mention that in case yours is something just as stupid.

Bit of a design boob by Volvo there - the fob 'hole' is above the corner of the console and anything on your keyring not only rattles against the trim but gets caught behind the trim when you pull the fob out. One of these times I'm going to break the trim!

I do not leave the key in the ignition, simply push it in start the engine and remove, then put your keys either behind the centre console or in the little cubby hole below the light switch or in your pocket. If you open the door with the engine running of in some other instances you may get a warning on the dash saying the key is removed, simply cancel this message using the return button on the left stalk, start-stop will function like normal.
Obviously once engine is shut down via the stop button you will have to use the fob to start it again.

I think I have the rattle but have the LCD speedo.
I think it is from the silver plastic circles rattling against the perspex as they sit on top of them.
Try holding them down when driving to see if it makes any difference.

There is a screw behind the clocks in the dash that isn't tight enough and can cause a creaking or rattling noise,

Wires can come unclipped and cause a rattle as well. I had a couple of loose ones re-fixed under warranty.

Hmm, I have suffered the odd rattle from the dash area but usually found it to be some odd item in the door pocket, no idea why it sounds to be coming from in front of the the steering wheel though.
Also try the centre roof lighting assembly, bits of that can rattle occasionally , usually dependent upon temperature, again sound travels in odd directions.
Hope that helps.
