Default Couple of questions?

Looking to do cam and drive belt change soon, any tips, do's and don't's, special tools required?

How do you remove the body coloured cover on the door mirrors? Need to repaint one of mine.

Thanks in advance
Steve

To remove the mirror cap you have to remove the mirror glass first. To do that you just lever it off from the top or bottom and it pops off. Once the glass is out it's quite easy to see where the cover is clipped in.

I'd wait until spring though. The cold makes plastics really brittle and the clips on these covers are brittle enough as it is.

I took my covers off to paint mine.

Google a pic of the covers so you can work out where the clips are. If you are lucky and you pull in the right place you might get them off without having to remove the mirror glass, but there is a risk of braking the clips. Easier if you clip off the mirror glass as per above post. Move the mirror to maximum left and then with a screwdriver flick off the mirror in the right place, where it is held on.

The mirror glass is clipped to the motor by clips that roughly equate to the corners of the mirror. The first attachment shows a mirror glass attached to the motor and shows the clips. the second attachment shows where you need to carefully lever the clips while gently pulling the mirror off the fixings with your free hand. Once one corner is free the others will follow.

warm up the plastics with a hair dryer or heat gun if you worried about them breaking during removal. In the winter months in the body shop its constantly plugged in to assist with stubborn plastic tongues
