Check the tyres aren’t catching on the front arch liners on full lock , should be pretty obvious scuff marks on the inside behind the wheels.
Check your steering stops haven’t fallen out If you have changed wishbones did the new ones have steering stops on them , they quite often don’t have . Last edited by Das boot; Jan 10th, 2018 at 20:46. |

I’ve had the same problem. I’ve got a 10v auto but recently put some S70 T5 alloys on and when on full lock my tyres catch the wheel arch liners. I got told to put some 3mm spacers on, but I don’t know if it will cure your problem as it should already have T5 alloys as standard.

Just seen your thread, it could be your diff and gearbox low on oil? I predict this as my project car (Opel Monza GSE) has the same symptoms. I topped up the auto gearbox oil and is now smooth when putting the car in drive and reverse.

I'd go with the lower torque mount on the gearbox.
As for checking the gearbox oil, there is a specific routine which must be followed to guage an accurate level. You may know, but many don't. 1. Get it up to temperature. A good half hour's swift drive should do the trick. 2. Park on level ground and leave the engine running throughout. 3. Cycle the lever from park, through all positions, stopping a few seconds in each before finishing in park. 4. Pull the dipstick, wipe and reinsert. 5. Pull again, level should be up toward the "Hot" mark. It should also be a nice cherry red, not brown or smell burnt

A few flushes should be fine, over the weeks I've done mine as it used to slam into gear with a jolt and after 7-10 flushes it's fine and should be done every 80-90000 miles I think.
Just a question is your gearbox a 5 or 4 speed auto. Thanks |

lower torque mount will be shot as Sideways has already pointed out. Gets an awful lot of stick for such a small bushing
