2001 s80 2.4 petrol message saying abs service required

hello, the warning light/message came on for my 2001 volvo s80 saying abs service required and stc service required, i took it to a volvo specialist who said the fault code is for the abs pump, they said the only way to fix it is to have the abs pump reconditioned as it would not accept a secondhand one. they charged me £420 and as i drove away the same warning light came on. i have taken the car back to them and i am waiting to see what they say, they have already had the car 11 days. do you know this fault and what is it.

The dash message could relate to maybe a hundred different actual BCM codes so what is the exact code(s) they read?
Without that, it's just a guessing game.
