Default Pirrelli P7's and snow

Got stuck in my S40 this morning trying to get up a snow covered hill. Have to say I'm not impressed with P7's at all, really dissappointing they couldn't get me up the hill. Reason I'm particularly annoyed is I was behind a rear wheel drive BMW that went up the hill no bother at all. Got half way and got stuck let myself roll back down got a bit of a run at it drove on the fresh snow and same result just couldn't make it. All round pretty dissappointing.

It is amazing how SUMMER tyres don't seem to perform very well in WINTER.

I wonder how WINTER tyres would get on

Must be a long hill. In my old 240 I was in Barnet in 2003 when the last big fall came. Plenty of people in FWD and RWD cars were having problems - the 240 laughed in the face of the snow

My mum's old N-reg 244 was exactly the same, that was a great car!

Did you have the traction control on? I think it's got more to do with that than the tyres - I been stuck slightly, a quick press of the DSTC switch and I was able to scrabble out of teh car park.

Yep DSTC was on, so do you mean switch it off or on? was tempted to have another go with it off but had an alternative route which I took.

I had goodyear eagle F1's fitted to a corsa 1.7 cdti, it was worse than usless in the snow, a summer tyre if ever there was one!

On my V50 I have continentials fitted all round and its is much better, with the traction control on, up my back lane it has no problems, just leave it in 1st and drive on tickover.

I switched it off - it allows a bit more wheel spin.
