Does anyone else have this issue with oil leak? any guidelines?
Volvo V60 D3 Diesel - 2014
Mileage: 124k
Context: appeared after 925 miles trip

Are there any general guidelines on how to deal with this? how serious is this? any idea if it can be caused by any engine gasket, seal, bad connection etc / what needs to be inspected in the first place if critical?

is it coming from where the breather pipe goes into the big black air intake pipe going across the front of the engine ?

Which D3 engine is this? The VEA engines seem to have leakage issues.

Hi Clan, I’ve seen this on a few of the 5-cylinder engines - on mine I just spray some degreaser and give the area a wipe every few months. I assumed it was designed like this and part of normal operation?

no it's not normal it should be sealed , a small 7 mm wide good quality hose clip around the loose plastic breather pipe will reduce the leak to almost nothing ... don't tighten the clip too much , just enough to make it firm ..

Default found potential culprit - oil leak V60 2014

thanks all, removed the engine cover and the leak seems to come from the connection (1) rather than (2) circled on the image, have tightened up the clip (1) not sure if it was firm enough, otherwise will extrapolate as per above advice from forum experts

have a top day all

My 2014 XC60 D5 has exactly the same "leak", tightened/replaced the clamps which partially fixed it but now just give it a quick wipe over once a month as it still does it a tiny amount.

Weird thing is, with the clamps removed its really difficult to disconnect the pipes, they rotate round easily enough but getting them off seemed to require more force than I was happy to apply.

perhaps the plastic piece is cracked due to someone over tightening that hose clip?

indeed, also might be down to the fact that the screw's head (hose clip) was touching the plastic piece and constant vibration might have damaged it ...
