Post "Ventilation window seals

Hi Guys,
I want to replace the seal around the triangular vent window on both front doors. To do this I need to remove the rivet that it pivots on. Any one done this job, and how do you deal with the rivet on replacement? Tips would br gratefully received.

I've changed the rubbers out on these wing windows. I had the whole '4' shaped frame out of the door first off. The last set I did were on an early 1800 which didn't have these rivets as the window has a tab/stob that fits in a receiver. It's been too many years since I did a set on an amazon to remember what I did exactly. But the pivot mount sits outside of the rubber. The tricky part would be to get the lower pivot pin through the rubber with out cutting it. I will try to look at a loose '4' frame tonight when I am home and see if it comes back to me.

But on the 1800 ones, the old ones were really crusty and simply pulled out in chunks. The ones that went in, were simply pressed in by hand and rounded end of a spoon handle (so as to not cut the rubber). I think I used a bit of silicone spray to make sure it sat in easily but it was not really needed.

I had to do this before. As I recall, I just drilled out the rivet. Then put a fresh one in on re-assembly. I think it protruded a bit, so just filed it down and it was grand.

VP list the rivet and washer @ 20skr a side so I'd guess that Simon at Brookhouse can supply.

To set the rivet properly you need a rivet set. You can just bash them with a hammer, but it doesn't produce a good result.
