same batteries that have been on all other volvos for years ,
7 - 10 + years from my experience at LEAST , usualy more ..

With these modern batteries i have found that if they are left flat for a couple of days it can ruin them .

Default Staying Alive

My XC 60 stands allot because I only use it mainly weekends and then only every other weekend if I am lucky. So I have it permanently hooked up to a trickle top up charger so hopefully that will keep it alive.

Thumbs up

My battery in an XC90 was still going strong after 8 years.

Default Battery life

My XC60 has a 6 year old battery and so far so good but it's running on borrowed time I guess

Batteries don't last as long in Australia generally. (Maybe it's a combination of the heat and the low quality batteries most people use) The motoring services callout guy who replaced the battery in my sister's Toyota recently says he sees batteries fail on average after 3 years, with some as early as 2 years.

Given the cost of a battery I don't get too angst ridden about them - at the first sign of problems I replace with a new one and get the alternator output checked at the same time. (I've got more important things to worry about like the text wearing off the stop start button - ha ha!)

My old S60 was 9 years old and stilll on the original with no signs of imminent expiry though batteries are kind of fine today, dead tomorrow.

Beginning to wonder if the previous owner has let the one in my current car at some point. I got Low Battery! a couple of weekends ago. Stuck my CTEK on a recondition charge. We'll see.
This car is now 3½ years old and throwing all sorts of electrical wobblies. Last weekend the whole infotainment shut down completely. Nothing. Dead. It took a battery disconnect to bring the centre console back to life. It's booked in for a couple of weeks time. See what that throws up/out.

That will need a software update of the 3 sensus modules .

We had a Volvo 144S once where the volvo standard TUDOR battery lasted 14 years before continuing with it's new owner . I bought a volvo battery for one of my cars in 2001 , after having 3 EXIDE ones fail within 2 years .still going strong ..
Volvo Batteries have always been top quality and one of the cheapest to buy ( at the dealer ) If you have a dodgy battery it will fail on the first frosty morning of autumn !

Thanks for the info, forewarned is forearmed.

My old cars battery got a top up over the Christmas/New Year break. My wife has a 17 year old Honda CBR600 motorbike. the original battery on that lasted 10 years and she did absolutely nothing to maintain that. She'd park the bike up in October/November until April, go out, put the key in and it would fire up on the button with 6 month old petrol.

I have just a few weeks ago replaced the battery on an s40, which was the original so just over 10 years old, and tbh, the only reason it was fubar, is because I never bothered starting or using the car for a good 6-8 months. Replaced with a Bosch.

Regards

Mine has failed after 4 years and 3 months. Not impressed.
