havent updated this thread for a while!
had a few running issues recently, all sorted now though with a new carb and the timing set correctly. managed to get hold of a pair of tan headrests from a member off here, cheers dibble. didnt have the balls to start removing and cutting my original seat back covers as they were so mint, they had seat covers on them for the last 30 years! so.....sourced a couple of decent second hand seat back covers, swapped everything over and the second hand covers cleaned up really well. theres a plastic lock thread missing on the passenger seat in the photo, since sourced a new one from scandcar. the estate is going to a local bodyshop in two weeks, new lower rear quarter panels to go on,a off side outer rear wheel arch to go on,few other small bits and bobs, then finally paint. a couple of months work involved. gunna have to make a start soon on taking most of the interior back out and removing exterior trim before i take it to them in a fortnight,be worth it in the end!! |

Gareth did a write up on fitting them: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...ight=headrests
He used headrests from a P1800E which you can retro fit. These guys may make and sell new ones: http://www.vp-autoparts.com/index_company.htm |

The very last Amazons had head rests as standard. Only in the 1970 year I think.

yep your right mate, standard on the very later cars and before that they were an optional extra in the uk.
for me personally i think they look so much better with them, and feel less vunrable too! feels like im driving a model t ford without them! |

Hi - thanks! I did not know that was possible. My seats have already been recovered, but if I can get some headrests (and I think I can), then it will happen!
(I owned a '69 122 which had white buckets with headrests.) |

second part of this resto!! bodywork and paint.....
three weeks ago i dropped off the car to a local restoration/bodywork specialist. the estate is going to have new lower rear quarter panels, new rear offside wheel arch, repair to windscreen surround,a brand new old stock front near side door, good solid secondhand near side rear door. brand new door skins on the offside front and rear doors, few other bits then finally prep and paint. hopefully should be finished sometime next month. been collecting various parts from brookhouse/amazon cars, which is a never ending list!! really good second hand rear door... all new door seals and rear window seal... lower tailgate seals... new chrome window guides... new grille badge and door moulding upper clips... full set of new door and wing chrome moulding clips.. new windscreen seal... new bonnet lettering, tail light rubbers and reflector rubbers... spent a few hours on the grilles with a polishing wheel and plenty of autosol! came up a treat as they were really dull and covered in years of road grime. |
