Default 2013 Volvo V40 D3 Loose Wire

Hi all,

First time poster so please be gentle.

A family member's car approx 2-3 months ago started showing warning messages on the dashboard, specifically:

ABS/DSTC failure - Service required
Collision Warning - Service required
City Safety - Service required.
(Pictures attached)

The vehicle went to our local mechanic who checked over the vehicle and couldn't see anything wrong with it, but referred it on to Volvo directly who also checked it out but couldn't find what was wrong with it.

When doing some gardening earlier I happened to notice a small piece of wire hanging from the rear nearside wheel (picture attached) which I'm wondering whether it could be the reason for the issues? I tried to see where it came from and what it might plug into but it wasn't visible. I suspect a 'lift' might be required to reattach.

Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Metrix :-)

That wire looks like abs sensor that is part of the system, city safety etc. It should be bolted

That wire looks like abs sensor that is part of the system, city safety etc. It should be bolted, in your case looks like it did snap in half. New sensor from dealer is around £24, motor factor about 42

How serious is it given that it's not currently connected?

Just struggling to believe that two mechanics couldn't see it. Admittedly when it went to Volvo all they did was place it onto an ECU reader to see what code it was bringing up.

Abs sensor is speed sensor, it's weird that not putting car in limp mode. In my case it went in to limp mode, has ESP service required and citi safety was affected as well. In my car. Sensor failed and couldn't read the speed on the rear left.
