Amazon for sale in Ireland
Hi all, I’m selling a 1967 Volvo Amazon, mechanically sound,
body needs some TLC but no serious rust. I bought it in Taunton in 2004 with a recorded mileage of (1)19356 It now shows (1)23250. I simply don’t use the car enough as I have a ’65 Austin Healy Sprite and a ’61 Sunbeam Alpine project. I’m also involved with a rally 142, so most of the time the Volvo sits in the garage and only gets moved when I need to get something out from behind it. It is an unusual light olive green with dark green upholstery. At this stage it needs attention to the bodywork around the headlights and on the door bottoms, wing bottoms etc (the usual Amazon places). The photos show the car wearing a set of Hella rally 1000 spotlights which are not for sale, though I have another set of spots if any potential purchaser insists. The car is a little lazy to start ( I put this down to lack of use) but runs fine. I have mot certs back to 1996 and some bills showing work done during that time. In the last 10 years the car has covered less than 8000 miles and during that time it has had: Carbs rebuilt New battery New clutch and pressure plate Replacement front callipers and brake pipes New rear wheel cylinders and shoes New front shocks. The car was previously owned by Kate Healy, granddaughter of Donald Healy, but I have no proof of this apart from the previous owner’s word and a newspaper clipping that was included with the car’s paperwork. The original reg was JOU 775E I also have some spares: A new (in box) waterpump A new (in box) “C” cam New cam followers 2 litre head with twin carbs attached Another 2 litre head The car is in Clonakilty, West Cork, Ireland and can be viewed anytime. I have more pictures if required. There's also a picture of the other Volvo. Regards David |

Hi David,i'm really interested in your green 4 door Amazon! Just a couple of questions - 1)does it have the overdrive option? 2) How much would you like for it? If you could send some more pictures icluding some of the areas needing TLC to thomasabbott1988@live.co.uk,that would be great.
Many thanks, Tom |

Hi Tom, my Amazon doesn't have the overdrive option I'm afraid, I'll send the pics direct to your email address. OK?

Oh! Malcom. That's right... Yeah - I knew him and I knew the car. He replaced the Amzon with an BMW, didn't he? I remeber yours being a really well looked after car back then.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I didn't know the guy but he seemed ok. I bought the car on ebay, jumped a plane to plymouth and drove it home. It never missed a beat in the 300 miles but it was a bit of a leap of faith. I wish all my other ebay experiences had worked out as well.

Hi
Welcome to the forum and good luck with the sale. Also, I love that 142 photo, so I've taken the liberty of posting it in the 100 section for others to admire. I hope you don't mind! Not wanting to crash this thread, but I would be very interested to hear more about the 142 is you get time to tell us about it and post some more photos http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=95151 Cheers John Last edited by john h; May 8th, 2010 at 07:44. |

Wow
Hi David. Was amazed to see your Amazon for sale in Clon - we spend our time in Union Hall!
The descriptions says it's light green, but the pics come out as white - uh? So is it really ZV24909? We aren't due over for three weeks, so will get in touch to find out whether it has sold. Would you give us your phone number? (I'm a new member too so couldn't send you a private message - please use my email: chriswatkins<DOT>net<AT>virgin<DOT>net Chris and Patsy - at the moment in London |
