Default My amazon estate is up for sale

My amazon estate may be coming up for sale very shortly. I have owned this car for nearly ten years and restored it to its former glory. It is a twin carb, overdrive and rear seat belt fitted model with tow bar and electrics. The most desirable set up and in my opinion the most desirable blood red interior in very very good condition.

I bought the car in 2001. The car was in totaly original condition including the paintwork. It was owned by the previous owner for eleven years and in that time only had the engine fully rebuilt.

I stripped the car down to a shell, welded new inner front wings, and a couple of minor welding repairs to the bottom corner of the two front doors to a high standard. Replaced the front wings with genuine volvo wings that came with the car and the front panel. A couple of small repairs to the chassis and other than that the body is totaly original and rot free. The rear wheel arches are original and in remarkable condition as is the original sills. The rear upper tailgate i removed and filled it with waste oil before fitting it back together. All trim was removed before painting and painstakingly put back together.

All glass was removed and doors totaly stripped. New door seals all round, including felt window chaneling with the chrome edging. The interior of the doors were fully waxoiled.

The dash was removed, stripped and painted the same colour as the exterior. The original sills which are in perfect condition was fully waxoiled inside the full length.

To look at the car you would not know it has ever been resprayed as there is no overspray anywhere. It was repainted in 2002 to its original off white colour, including the door shuts and inside the car ie boot area and inside the doors. All the bits that are on show. A proper job painted in modern twin pack paint.

The only minor faults are that the engine and gearbox do drip the odd bit of oil but nothing major and no need for top ups between changes. The wheels although have as new tyres on could do with a repaint now. The rear stainless exhaust rattles against the body very slightly but i am looking into this. The engine bay is a little dirty because the car is used all summer, rain or shine then locked away in a dry garage all winter. I use the car continuously from may until the end of october every year and is outside all this time.

The chrome bumpers are original and in good servicable condition but the chrome has dulled over the years but i would say that there is more life in these bumpers than a rechrome or replacement as they are rot free and very solid. Older chrome is far better than modern cheap coverings that peel off.

The car is aproaching 45 years old so it's not perfect but not far off and because i know my amazons inside out i know that this car has to be genuinely in the top 10 percent in the country that is capable of being used as an every day car or used for shows. But be prepared for on going maintenence as all classics do. The car has thirteen months MOT at the moment and has cost me very little since the restoration.

If you are looking for a car that is not bunged up with filler this may be for you. Or you could buy the usual bodged up pile of scrap and spend your life regretting it.

The pictures below are a few years old but when i am organised i will post up to date photos and lots of them. inside and out. The condition is basicly the same.

Summerising the car.
TWIN CARB
OVERDRIVE
REAR SEAT BELTS
MODERN STEREO WITH CD CHANGER CAPABILITY. ( NO HOLES DRILLED TO MOUNT STEREO)
BRAKE SERVO
NEAR PERFECT INTERIOR
NEAR PERFECT EXTERIOR
HEAD RESTS FITTED FOR EXTRA SAFETY
FOG LAMP AND SPOT LAMP
TOW BAR AND ELECTRICS

Regarding price, well this is a difficult one. Where are you going to go to find one in this condition with twin carbs, overdrive and rear seatbelts fitted. I won't be giving it away but it is only worth what someone is going to pay so there we are. I believe the price is around £4500 but maybe i will only get £3500. Lets see, but i hope the body condition will speak for itself.

At those prices it seems like a bargain. You could pay that in bodywork repairs for a lesser car.

I hope you've got something else lined up because you're going to miss her.

i'd also consider ebay if i were you, as the green one i was bidding on last year, not a good as yours, went over 4.5k...

Once i am organised, i think i will try ebay first with a decent reserve, but i will post pictures on here before i list it. It is going to be a couple of weeks before i am organised and ready to sell.

I do want the best price i can get, but what ever the price, someone will end up with a very original and decent car that should last a very long time without spending a fortune every year, if used in the right conditions.

Regards...Dean

Blimey Dean, i hope you don't sell it to someone local. That's going to sting seeing it drive past with someone else behind the wheel. Especially if they are mucky pups and don't clean it regular !
Anyway, lovely car and beautiful paint finish. Hope its a grief free ebay experience.

I owned a 1969 MGB for 16 years from when i was 21. After four years of ownership a skilled panel beater and myself totaly rebuilt the cars body. It never cost me a thing after that, apart from general servicing for the next 12 years. Once the children arrived i had no real use and after about five years of deliberating weather to sell it, i put it up for sale out side my house. The guy six doors down bought it and that was three years ago. He still calls me once a year after the winter to sort out the starting issues which always turns out to be the battery. It's been about 15 years since it was restored and apart from the odd small blemish still looks very nice. Obviously i see it now and then in the summer but have had no regrets. Infact not long after selling it i came across a very nice 1800s for sinsible money and bought that. I drove around like simon templer for a couple of years and then sold that. That car is the only car i have ever partly regreted selling but realy the only reason why i bought it was because i knew there was a profit to be had. Does anyone know the whereabouts of it. A picture of it is below reg SEU 147D

I think you will regret selling.

I hope you have a slow slow slow think and see the light. The time, the effort. Don't sell !!!!!
