Default Phase 2 S40 bumper marker lights

Hi, this might be a stupid question, but how do you exactly turn on the side marker lights? I just bought the car a few days ago and I remember seeing them on, but now I can't figure out how to turn them if my life depended on it.

They operate with the daytime running lights, which unfortunately also puts on full headlamps for some bizarre reason known only to Volvo.

The procedure for turning them on and off is:
1) Twist the headlamp switch clockwise to the 'on' position.
2) Pull indicator stalk towards you and hold it there.
3) Twist the headlamp switch anti-clockwise, to the 'off' position.
A green LED beneath the light switch reveals the current DRL state.

This toggles DRLs on and off, but there is no way to turn on the marker lights independantly without physically altering the wiring.
