Shell and Tesco lower octane fuel are 97Ron and their higher octail fuel is 99Ron..Where as the others are 95Ron for their lower octane fuel and their "Premium" fuels are 97Ron..

So if using the likes of Esso, Sainsbury and BP you are paying a premium for what Shell and Tesco consider "lower octane"

Ps the higher the Ron value the better the fuel is..

Many thanks for the description.
I had no idea about the differences in basic unleaded.
You would think that basic unleaded fuel would have a set standard across all suppliers.

Shell V-power is at least 99 RON.
Read independent tests that report 102 to 105 RON.

Think I'll be buying Shell V from now on.

Strbryan- very much appreciate your input.

Regards

What fuel make do you use?

Have tried higher octane fuels by Sainsbury, Shell and Esso.
Shell seems to be best.

Sure you agree the R is a great motor.

Only use shell vpower. Never look at the price, only what's best for my R lol.
Have gobi interior. Spend so much on cleaning and detailing products, getting carried away with it, but when polished n waxed the colour is something else. Especially when you are unlikely to see many more. Sits outside garage most of the week, trying to get it in the garage this year,
