Default V40 Petrol 2001 - Missing Engine Part

Hi,

Just purchased a petrol V40 with a Volvo dual fuel standard kit on it. The car is missing the following pipe from the engine. Any ideas what it’s for?

I only plan to have the car as a cheap run around so not to worried about it as the car ran fine when driving it around.

Ps, the image is from google and not my actual engine as the head is missing off the one in the image.

Thanks

Cameron

It just drawers warm air in to the air intake from the exhaust manifold, it doesn't really make much difference whether it's fitted or not .
Mine is also now missing, & the only difference i notice is a slight hesitation when changing up through the gears until engine warms up, & then it only does it on really cold days.
On your dual fuel set up, it's also possible that it may have been something to do with affecting it when running on LPG, so could have been removed for a good reason ? but more often than not, it breaks up, falls off & just gets chucked !

I've been driving around without one for years with no ill-effect whatsoever.

The dual fuel does not use this hot air intake pipe .
