Default Petrol flap - what's missing?

I need some advice here folks.

The petrol flap on the T4 has a slightly different design to the 1600. The 1600 Phase 1 has no locking mechanism, relying instead on a locking petrol cap. The T4 has a lock built into the rear wing, injecting a needle into the flap when the alarm is armed.

The lock fails and gives up after about thirty seconds because it misses the flap. The flap appears to be lacking perhaps a rubber stop of some kind? It clanks around while driving and doesn't sit flush with the panelwork, closing about a quarter-inch too far into the bodywork. It comes to rest at a hexagon-shaped piece of metal, from which the lock needle-bolt type thing emerges. Clearly it's supposed to protrude into a hole in the flap's tongue, but with the flap being too far inwards, this misses it's mark and then retreats.

Obviously it is lacking something. Can anyone tell me what's missing?

There should be a bump stop, I can't remember whether it's on the bodywork or the flap itself, which looks like a thick rubber washer and it's off-set in order to adjust or make the flap flush with the panel. Once the flap is alinged the locking pin should go through the tab.

Ah, sounds like some sort of eccentric rubber washer. Might be able to fabricate something I suppose. Seems to be a rare item secondhand, which presumably accounts for it being missing in the first place.
