Which variant of the XC60 fleet do you have? That information would make the numbers more relevant

How are you running in? I'm getting around 38mpg according to the trip which seems pretty accurate.

I am trying not to put it under any significant load and being very gentle on the throttle. Vauxhall used to say "for 600 miles" but I used to go easy for at least double that figure - which I have now done.

I use cruise control whenever I can and tend to stick to the speed limits on the motorway. I know that may seem boring to some but the difference in time on a journey is relatively insignificant compared to the savings in terms of fuel.

The trip in question involved 8 miles local pre starting off on Tuesday morning, a short (30 mile) trip to Lyneham folllowed by around 8 miles pootling around at 30mph ish. Then the joys of the M4, M25, M11 to Cambridge followed by a cold start into Cambridge then home on the A14, M6, M42 and M5.

I do have my concerns on the accuracy of the gauge - seems a tad optimistic - but I will determine that over time. One of my Zafiras was 7% optimistic but three of them were virtually bang on.

It's a great car!

I am struggling round the Yorkshire Dales in my D3 Auto to attain anything like 45MPG. With slow often hilly country roads and traffic .My average speed is 28MPH with an average MPG showing of 36.7 .

I can see that the continuous fuel consumption monitor is showing 50-90mpg on a steady throttle once rolling along the few dual carriageways I get on but most of the time I seem to be conscious of it being under 20 mpg getting the vehicle rolling from slow crawling traffic.
Cold starts and accellerating/braking are the things that kill consumption (sorry if I am teaching granny to suck eggs).

Driving the A14 yesterday I was leaving a reasonable gap to allow me to adjust my speed with less braking. The downside is that it can be an invitation to some drivers to "undertake". One guy did that yesterday and he then remained in front of me for the next 20 miles. Talk about impatient driving and lack of awareness of the road conditions :-(

This will cheer you up, Audi Q5 this morning on M1 at Wakefield, decided he was going to jump the queue by driving up the hard shoulder & was so busy looking behind he didn't see the patrol car attending to another car until too late and rear ended it it in a cloud or brake dust - I did think about stopping and telling him about city safe but thought better of it!
Would like to see lawyers4u sort that one out lol......made my morning anyway

Yes realise that ,I do good long runs and keep cold starts to the minimum but its all slow on A& B roads, tractors ,caravans, milk wagons all hold you up from smooth driving.
