Red face Recurring "Input shaft speed sensor" fault

V70 2.5TDi Auto - 1999. Help! Flashing arrow followed by ECU light. Trans Fault code indicated "Input shaft speed sensor" faulty - replaced it. OK for a few days - then lights all came on again. Checked codes again & cleared - still same fault indicated. Checked LH Front ABS ring clean (road speed sensed from here). Everything appears to be working correctly, but clearly something is causing the fault code to be generated. Anyone got any idea where else to look please? Oh - lights all on again!!

Have you looked at the wiring?

Have you actualy replaced the input speed sensor, this tansmission has two sensors input and output speed which look the same, they are both light blue from memory.

Definitely replaced input speed sensor - unless Volvo specialist got it wrong! Also checked multiplug onto trans ECU & as best as rest of loom for general condition - seems OK. I know there could be a broken wire, but in fairness everything appears to be working OK - even torque converter lock up which usually stops if sensor faulty.

Hi Chris & thanks for the info - you know what - looks like the Volvo specialist got it wrong - the sensor he ID'd as input from his info is labelled as output on the info you sent. I printed it off & will be paying another visit - as he is a colleague I will try not to be too grumpy - we all make mistakes! I checked the plate on the box & it is as shown in the PDF!
Fingers crossed we'll get the right one this time!
