>Like many UK RICA users, who are otherwise clearly satisfied
>with the effect of that product on their cars, we have here >yet another case of blaming everything else before admitting >that they may need to make some adjustments themselves.... >leaves on the line.... wrong type of snow... anything goes. > I'm not going to get involved in this discussion any more because you clearly spend all your life implying a blame culture with the RICA product. Adam. ps. You couldn't even be bothered to answer my question about your race car. |

RE: Slight Missfire at full throttle
if I can just jump into this thread before people start throwing their teddies out of the pram!
Looking back at Simon's original post, it seems to me that by-and-large the obvious has been missed. Simon states that his HT leads are not in perfect condition and that he plans to replace the Dizzy cap etc. Surely, these are the correct actions to methodically work through to trace the problem. If you are expecting the engine to produce more power than standard then it stands to reason that it's componant parts are being more highly stressed than in original spec. Any weakness in them is surely going to show up - possibly as a slight misfire at full boost/power. Just a thought :)

Boost leak? Have you checked your intercooler hoses for splits etc. They do rot, mine had nearly disintergrated when I fitted a Samco set.

RE: Slight Missfire at full throttle
Just an update. I have fitted new oem leads, Bosch distributor cap and rotor and FR7DC plugs gapped at 24 thou. The car doesnt missfire anymore.
I put the problem down one or both of the following reasons. When I bought the car a year ago I replaced the rotor arm and cap with Beru items from ECP and on inspection the gap between rotor tip and cap is about 25 though greater than with the Bosch oem items. I presume this will weaken the spark at the plugs. Higher boost makes it more difficult for a plug to fire so a smaller plug gap maybe required. However a standard gap could be OK if the problem was with the dizzy cap/rotor. Thanks Simon |
