V70: Gearbox How do I check level of ATF in my 2008 V70?

Hello, I must be putting the search terms wrong into Google, because I can't find the answer to this question - is there a dipstick to check the automatic transmission fluid in a 2008 V70 D5? I'm not terribly technical, but my owners manual doesn't say anything and peeking around under the hood, I cannot really spot anything.

Here is my issue - the car momentarily slips a gear between 2nd and 3rd gear. I got a full service done but I think they screwed something up because 1000 miles later, I was low on oil and this car does not burn excessive oil, no leaks etc. So I suspect they "forgot" to do their job. And now I suspect that maybe the ATF needs topping up as well (I want to check this as a first step). Hopefully it is nothing more than a servo something or just topping up ATF.

The oil plug on the bottom is a two part design. Unscrew the middle one when the fluid is hot to check the level. Many tutorials on Youtube about this.
In any case, a complete refill of the oil is advised.

There is no dipstick on them.

You need to go to a specialist if you can't do this yourself by way of oil changes etc.

There's no dipstick for the transmission fluid.

You have to go underneath the car & find the transmission plug. Don't undo the whole plug because then you'll lose all the fluid. Undo the middle part of the plug... If the level in the transmission is correct, you should see drips of fluid coming out.

There's plenty of videos on YouTube showing how to do it.

Hi, as previous posters have said, there is no gearbox dipstick on this model. I have a similar car and have drained, filled and set the fluid level on the auto box a few times, there are some pics on my thread linked below which might help. Post #5 shows the two piece drain plug which is used to check the level.

Be careful if you decide to DIY a fluid change and make sure the filler plug undoes before you attempt the drain plug and make sure to use the correct fluid.

Thanks all. Based on this thread, I'm just getting my mechanic to come take a look at it and top up or drain/refill the fluid. And then change the B4 servo cover as well in the hope that one or both of these things will improve that jerkiness of gear change.

when checking the oil level the oil must be at least 60C and on a level surface you should over fill it slightly and let it run out the centre hole with the engine running until the flow starts to drip then screw in the centre level screw .
