Default Switchblade Key Fob.

Hi

My all in one switchblade keyfob does not retract properly anymore.

Basically I forced the key back into the fob without pressing the button. So now it just flaps around.

I do have a couple of spare (not my car) volvo matching fobs, but will have to switch the insides.

However, I can separate but can not get into the top of the key to switch the key over??? I also can not find any take aparts???

Please help, as it is yet another annoying volvo feature??

the top part of the key is moulded/welded together. You can crack it open, I did both of mine with mixed success.

You will find that the button and it's spring both pop out so getting it apart is the easy bit. The button has 2 lugs on it, these snap off and cause the blade to either just flop around or to jam solid so you probably just need to replace the silver button then somehow get it all back together again (line up lugs, insert spring, twist button half a turn while pushing 2 halfs of keyfob back together and glueing)

A very fiddly job but it's that or £100+ for a new key......

.......I think I'd go for the £100 option if I had to do it again.

But it costs a fortune for Volvo to program the new key to the car doesn't it??
