I’ll see what he comes back with once he drives it ... let’s hope he gets to the bottom of it without a forced regen

Will update

Thanks
when the soot level gets to 100g that is after all the messages have been ignored , you will need to renew the particle filter . 20 g it should deal with it'self ...

Update: in the end the technician decided to go for the regen and I’ve been told that the noise is gone and the car is back at full power.

Will update again once I get to drive it

Update: so as you said, the regen did nothing. I’ll have to get under it myself to check all the turbo hoses. Once again, thank you for the advice Clan

I checked the hoses in the attached and these are all good, any other hoses I need to look at? Or are there any other parts that might cause the symptoms?

They should have tested the hoses with the volvo smoke tester , it pumps smoke into the hoses under slight pressure and you see it coming out ..
If you are at home there is only one way to check the big hoses that is take them off and look at them , a tiny split near the hose clip can not be seen in place .

So you hear a rush of air when you are pressing the throttle down out on the road ? You can hear that when you look under the bonnet and get someone to rev the engine sharply … you can generally pin point down to which hose it is and often feel the jet of air coming from the area . Under the air filter is the point where it is most likely .

The gqrage is supposed be diagnosing it , what happened? Take it back tell them they have done nothing to solve it .

Hey,

I'm in France and nobody observed something similar on D3 engines... Only me on my V40 D3 2014.

I posted this movie : https://youtu.be/dM79KqN738k
The sound is apparing when you see this smiley 😳

Is it that whistling sound that you have when you are accelerating after gear changment?

Br,
Flosky/

Hello,

@Flosky I have the same when revving, still haven’t managed to get it sorted, but I am planning on changing all the hoses

Did you manage to get it looked at ?

If it's not a split hose under the air box then I'd take a look at the boost control valve and pipe that runs from that to the waste gate. Check the pipes are seated on the boost control valve and remove/re-seat the electrics.
It's not uncommon for the boost control valves to require replacing at this mileage. I have the same engine as you and did mine at 71k miles. Get it checked out properly instead of throwing parts at it.
