164 reappearance.
Early yellow 164 back on ebay. Keen price, overdrive and good interior (I looked it over last winter) but needs considerable welding.

164
As Jimmy said really; shame there is so little interest in 164s again, but I really think it must be a cheaper price to sell. Only today a local novice asked about taking on my spares-164 as a resto project. When I showed him the rusty bits and said he would need to be a good sheet-metal worker as good front wings/panels are not available, he even cancelled his offer of £300!
He saw sense after a while - only proper 164 nuts take such a case on! This cars owner still has'nt given me the VIN-number of his car for my records: either he can't be bothered to simply look on his V5 or suspicious, for some reason. If its OK for Sir Gregg Knight, the classic car MP with a 164, I must be above board! Paul |

Think that's the girl who writes on Retro Rides. I think she had a thread detailing the work done to the car with loads more photos.

One of our illustrious MPs runs a 164, well maybe they're not such a bad lot!
Yes you're got to be a bit affected to own many of the lesser known cars; I have a liking for other barges like Tagoras and 604s too, a terrible affliction As for 164s, every time I drive mine just reminds me what a great bit of engineering they are. Powerful, smooth, comfortable and quiet.

Which reminds me- I still want a manual one on Strombergs, and yes I will pay substantial money for the right one.

I thought yours was manual, Jimmy? You're not having my beige one though! I've still got to restore my fathers original maroon Strom + OD one after I bought it back from a certain death, then I have my project TE which had been converted to man + OD on Stroms by the previous owner.
They are still out there, it just depends on how much you want all that work.... I also like the Tagora; when my father was in hospital and I did the daily visits I parked my 164 next to one in the car park. The owner returned to the car more or less as I did, so naturally we chatted, much to my mothers annoyance. Turns out he only used it because he couldn't start his Rover P5! Rare as chickens teeth..... Paul |
