Default Volvo V40 parcel shelf pins/lugs/brackets/clips

Hi guys,

Really struggling with this one. The pins which are part of the interior side panel have snapped off on both sides and I have been trying to find some way of mending this. I'm assuming that this is a common fault as they are only plastic and not metal. Does anyone have any advice of how to fix this, is it a whole replacement panel or is there a repair kit available?

Your main option is a new (scrapyard) panel. It can be fixed by screwing the lug from the inside of the panel, i did it to mine but its not great.

The V40 does have a repair kit for the piece on the pillar of the car , They also do repair kits for the ends of some of the load blinds , maybe the V40 too i am not sure ...

Mines been bodged with long bolts and some pipe over it by a previous owner, then all sprayed black. It works so well I had the car for over a year before I noticed! I only noticed as the spray paint had worn off...

Thanks for your help guys. I decided to do a bush fix using some 12mm wooden dowel, screws and glue! Not the prettiest but actually very sturdy and seeing as it's not on display and the car is so old I'm fairly happy with it.

JudgeNinja, thanks for the offer of parts. I'd already done my bush fix before I'd seen your post otherwise I'd definitely have been heading your way.

Using wood is novel but as you say, it works and is probably stronger than the original design.

One of mine is intact and the other I screwed a plastic cap into the panel.

Like you say, you can't see it with the whatsit in place.
