Question Red/White Wire

Took the instrument cluster out of my 1989 240DL to fix the clock which is the large type in the main instrument cluster, I thought I had taken note of all the wires/plugs but when I went to put it back into the dashboard I have found a red/white with a 'female' terminal fitted to it. Can anyone advise what this wire is for/where it goes as there is nowhere for it on the rear of the cluster and everything appears to be working ok on the car ?
Thanks,
Kevin.

If you had a rev counter that wire would go to it. Since you don’t, it’s unused.

Cheers
