German aren't immune either.
I think tarring the Volvo with an unreliable tag because of a leaking coolant bottle is a little harsh.

Yeah that was frustration coming out, mostly at my lack of mechanical knowledge
Suppose I will persevere for a little longer, only just fixed the exhaust hanger and jammed the drivers window shut after the cable snapped. Now, would high coolant throw a warning light ? Just thinking if the float is above the sensor would that trigger it |

The ECM will be expecting a return voltage within a given range so a high or low signal outside the range could in theory cause a fault code.
Regardless, you've been sold a part which doesn't work so why not just send it back for a refund, buy a genuine one which will work and move on? I wouldn't spend any time trying to make an inferior part work.

Hello my 850T5 has stood unloved for about 7-years due to an MOT failure. But recently I have decided to get it back on the road. One of the problems I encountered was tht the coolant level light stayed on, even when expansion box topped up to the max level. So I took the box off & cleaned it out thoroughly. But when I reconnected it the light stayed on. Upon further inspection, I found that the float in the expansion box that works with the level sensor, waas not floating, but sitting on the sensor, which would make it think the level was wrong. To check the sensor was working, I levered the float up and the light went out. I can only guessthat the float has sprung a leak. Since the box is a sealed unit a new one has been purchased from Parts For Volvos at £21-91 + pp. Now to the MOT failure........
