Default Chips Away

I had the unfortunate experience of someone scratching the bottom my passenger door with their bumper (I assume) which was rathger annoying.

I contacted Chips Away (http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/) and was pleased to find that he could polish out the scratches becuase of the thickness of the Volvo paint.

All told, £40 for an excellent job which was a lot cheaper than the several hundreds to have the complete door sprayed (Volvo solution).

Highly recommended.

I've used another company who do something similar Dent Devils, they may only do dents as their name suggests but also good service and not too expensive.

I used a local franchise http://www.fixadent.co.uk/ on my last Volvo. He managed to get a dent out to the point where I could not see where it was - and without breaking any of the paint!

Again, I can recommend for the Surrey/Hants area, I am sure that there are other just as good around the rest of the country.

Any before and after pics? My wife got side-swiped at the roundabout. I managed to polish away most of the damage, but there is still the slight dent.

Unfortunately I px'd the car for the current XC60

The dent was small, about 3 inches in diameter and about 1/4 inch at the deepest. It was beside the filler flap and it looked like someone had punched the car - perhaps to try and free the filler cap.

The chap, Ryan Shakespeare I think, came along took the inside valances out of the car boot and started work. It took him about 2 hours and I think it was £75 that I paid him.

He would not attempt a ding on my wife's car as he could not get to the back of the dent being as the car was double skinned where the dent was - and where the dent remiains.

He was very open, honest and pleasant and I would use use him again, if needed.

Related to this subject, I have to say that I believe I am a pretty level-headed and law abiding chap, but if there's one thing that might cause me to seriously consider handing out some GBH, it would be catching the absolute ers who open their doors into my car at car parks, or who seem incapable of reversing out of a spot without dragging their front bumper down the side of my car. These people are the absolute pits!! aaaarrrgghh!

Whew, feel better for that. Good shout wimorrison on chips away btw. Got them coming round later this week.

When I can, I always park up as far away from other cars as I can for this reason...but why is it when I return to my car that there's always a car parked right next to it even if there's loads of spare spaces and it's normally the most beaten-up wreck in the car park!

I have small dent on the wing...I can only see it in certain lights, it may even have been there from new. Somebody told me if I can get behind it I should be able to get rid of it with a roller...but I think I pay the £45 or so anyway.

Chips Away have got a place not far away from me and it's always busy!
So I guess they must be good (and local drivers must be bad, to cause the damage in the first place)?

YES! The exact same thing happens to me. I sometimes wonder whether my car is actually incredibly magnetic, sucking all other cars towards mine whilst I'm in the shops!!
