Default D5 T4 electronic vane controller for turbo

My sons v70 keeps having issues with limp mode and overboost showing up.
It has an electronic controller for the turbo vanes.
I've disconnected the link between controller and vanes and the turbo end seems smooth and also seems to work over a large quadrant. Listening with a mech's stethoscope indicates the vane control inside the turbo is moving.
Is it possible to test the controller and also the boost pressure sensor?

Hi if you find some one with Volvo vida you can test the actuator,
test the boost sensor with vida or a cheap OBD2 READER, with car on and engine not running you will read atmosphere pressure, if you want to read higher use a pump/mityvac with gauge and connect pipe to the sensor and read with OBD2 READER, were are you?
