  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Exclamation cam belt

can anyone tell me please
how often should the cam belt be changed??

I think Volvo quote about every 80,000 miles or 8 years on average, but I may be mistaken.

I've always done mine (be it a Volvo or not) at about half of that just to play it safe,

Infact doing mine in next couple of weeks as I've only had the car for a three weeks and it's something I like to know exactly when it was done.

Doing the VVT pulley too for piece of mind !!!!

just wanted to check
cos i've just bought the car and i've found a bill from the previous owner
and its got 27/01/2011 on it for cam belt ,pulley and tensioner
so i think i will be ok for this year then

You could always check with the previous owner. I did for mine and got a computer print out of the work carried out from the dealer as well. Doesnt hurt to ask.

Cam belt is every 8 years on a petrol S/V40, every 6 years on a diesel (did my diesel one last year and its my petrol S40's turn this year)!

You should be okay for another few years!
