Default problematic alarm central locking

Trying to work out what is going on
if i lock the car with the fob the indicators start flashing non stop .I have been told that the alarm is sounding but the siren is knackered so you cant hear it but
I have checked all door switches and bonnet micro switch , If i lock the car with the fob but with the bonnet open then the doors lock and the indicators do not show a fault ie go off normally
----question time ----
1 is the siren box just a siren or is there alarm controler incorporated with it

2 on ebay i have seen a burglar alarm controll box for a v40 where would this be positioned on the car , does it control the complete alarm or is this just for the ultra sound sensors

3 if this is just for the ultra sound sensors where will i find the main alarm brain box positioned and does it also control the central locking or is that linked to another interface . many questions i know but i am new to volvo ,s

I think there's your problem. Try replace the microswitch...

The siren is located under your battery.
