Default Crack!

Does yours? My current V70 ph 1 ....driving along and CRACK sounds like a stone hitting the screen.... Got me thinking, my old 850 did it, so did my old 240.... Not heard my V70 ph2 do it. It's sort of like a heat expansion thing? Weird . Anyone else?

My P1 V70 does exactly the same-usually after I've driven a mile or two-like yourself the first time I heard it I thought something had hit the screen-now I take no notice of it happening.

Yep +1
Mine does the same, worst in the winter when the weather is cold, about 5 mins into the journey CRACK!, scares the .... out of me. As said it does sound a lot like something fairly big has hit the screen, but apparently it's due to the dashboard fixing points being broken then as the dashpad warms up (with the screen heating on) it expands and moves. I think someone did a write up of repairing the fixing points but as I recall it's a dash out operation so I just live with it.

Default Me, too!

My Feb. 2000 V70 does exactly the same thing, 'Paul240480'. The first time that it happened I thought that something had struck the car as well - even now it still makes me jump!

It usually happens when it is cold, as now, after 3 - 4 miles driving and often, but not always, following a right turn. I have a recollection that this was also discussed last year, with no definite conclusions being drawn as to it's cause.

Welcome to the club!

Regards, John.

PS I agree 'DaveNP's' suggestion as to the probable cause may well be correct. J.

Mine also does the same, however keeping my blowers on 'auto' instead of the window vent it doesnt crack as much.
