True for Reading as well, although Costco would think of themselves more as a wholesaler than a retailer. Never been into a Booker car park, same might apply there.

True about the wholesaler and Costco bit - they definitely seem to be letting almost anyone in these days though, on the plus side hopefully that will mean they'll stay around longer if more people are paying membership fees

Their fuel is as cheap as I've seen it anywhere too which is a bonus.

The last Booker I visited in Leeds I think people just parked where they liked as it wasn't really marked up space wise - it was surprisingly quiet for such a large store but I think I just timed it right that day.

I think I get that sometimes, is there a cure?

My real gripe in car-parks is people sitting with their engine running when it is obvious they are not going anywhere, i.e. eating a takeaway or having a phone conversation etc. especially when in a diesel.

I have a theory why other drivers like to park so close to a Volvo...
Its because they are secretly jealous they hope that being so close to a Volvo or even getting a little paint exchange will in some way enhance their euro boxes!

The opposite was true with my old Lancia & Alfa most people gave them a wide berth in case the dreaded Italian tin worm would jump to their cars!

I have another theory about the Audi drivers as they proudly support the VAG Life (pronounced with soft G) which is the polite name for the lady bits they personify!
My daughter has just bought an Audi and when I asked he why she said its because she's a copper and needed to uphold the stereotype!!!

No need to look it up, I'm well aware of confirmation bias. And I have wondered if that's what I'm experiencing, from time-to-time, but honestly, I don't think so.

Costco are one of the few car park owners who have the bays laid out at an angle. Apparently you can get more spaces that way for a given area of land. It's to do with needing less road space between the bays. I saw an example of the maths once and it was true.

I don't wish to upset anyone who wrote that report..... but, why ??

Really ?!

You must love a challenge, and not like going out.

I understand 'I can, therefore, I will...." but dear lord... thats some heavy reading

I am ashamed to admit I have found this document quite interesting!!!!
As I recently provided some professional civil engineering advice to objectors of a new supermarket development, where I challenged the assumption made by the designers in respect to the car park, amongst other things, based primarily on my own experience. This has actually provided me with some quantifiable evidence - if its needed! But TBH the planners will allow the development as it stands and everyone will moan that the car park is too tight, until a car is invented that can crab sideways!
