Default Duplicate keys

Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to go to have a decent duplicate key/remote made and programmed at not an extortionate cost? We only have the one at the moment and need a spare.

Cheers.

The keys come pre-programmed with a unique code that cannot be changed. you then have to program the car to accept the new key, and this can only be done with a Volvo registered software package, so it’s a main dealer job. A few indies also have access to the software needed. There is no point in buying second hand keys either as the code needed to program them is printed on the packaging, not the key.

Change that to "Luckily Volvo Dealer only!"

It's part of the security: only the dealer can provide the a new key to your largest or second-largest asset that you own!

(For me my largest asset)

This gives me peace of mind....

Yer - if it was a BMW or Merc all you would need is a spotty youth with a £5 gadget from eBay and an Android app...

If you think it’s expensive to get a second key now, consider the price and inconvenience to get towed to the dealership to get a new key when you’ve just lost the only one you had

If nothing else, get a key cut so you have access into the vehicle. You don't mention what car you have but most Volvos can be opened using a key even if you can't start it due to lack of immobiliser transponder.
