Default Cold seat - I give it the cold shoulder.

Tried to use the cold seat today for the first time. Result appears to be zero. Journey time 30 minutes climate control set to 18 which was fine so I was comfortable but no difference whatsoever in any area of the seat. The seat heating worked well in the cold weather. My last Jaguar XJ seat got so cold if you left it on it became unbearable.

The vented seats are just that- vented- not cooled The system actually sucks warm air away from your body.. I tested them on an XC90 last summer before I optioned my 60- and I agree with you- the effect is not worth the price tag..

Interesting, the Sensus symbol symbol shows cooling so I suppose it may be technically correct however hardly practical through two layers of clothing. My one and only complaint so far on the car against many plus points, still very happy.

It actually shows a ventilator

"The ventilation system consists of fans in the seats and backrests that draw air through the seat upholstery. The cooling effect increases the cooler the passenger compartment air becomes."

I suppose you have to get the car VERY cool in order to feel the actual cooling effect..

I can see the logic in the description but that’s no different to lifting your back off the cushion which is probably more efficient so it’s still a big no I am afraid.

Well mine seem to cool my bum down, I admit that it's not instant cooling but after a while I can definitely feel a cooler seat, as apposed to it getting warmer the longer you sit on it.

I had ventilated seats in the Merc and each seat had 8 (yes, 8!) fans in it. Despite this I thought the system was pretty ineffective and seldom used it.

How long is after a while. Perhaps 30 mins is not enough. I am more interested in a cool back rather than bottom.

I find it works most noticeably if you are wearing light clothing, ie. just a shirt (and trousers before anyone comments!!), the cooling effect is definitely there. A jacket, sweater, sweatshirt etc just masks the benefit.

On the 'LO' cabin temp setting and seat ventilation to III setting the seat backrest is almost uncomfortably cold on my V90.
