Broken part on transmission shifter
Can anyone help /advice, my transmission light has never worked since I bought the car, I thought it was just the bulb, turns out when I had a look at it, the blind strip itself was badly scored and split, plus the lens was missing from it, I now have the replacement parts, but my main problem is, at the base of the gear stick there are two pegs that stick out and locate into the peg on the blind strip, one on the left for L/H drive cars, one on the right, mine at some time or other has broken off (see photo) by using part of the old blind strip peg I've made something that's a perfect fit into the new blind strip, the problem is bonding to the plastic at the base of the gear stick, I've tried super glue, it won't stick to it, I've tried contact adhesive, that won't stick to it, does anyone know what type of plastic its made from, then I can look for some other type of adhesive, David.

JB weld.
Also try industrial/building grade super glue. The stuff you generaly get now at most places is utter crap. Even loctite is no use any more, only thing it is good for is attaching everything except what you want to your fingers. JB weld is the future! |

I've just tried using a METHACRYLATES glue, that won't bond to it either, does anyone know what type of plastic Volvo used ?
