Thanks for that.
I'm really trying to go down every avenue without taking the lock out, as I don't fancy that job at all.
I've replaced a passenger side lock mech on a previous V70 I had, and found it very easy, but I imagine the drivers door lock is a bit more tricky.

Well I must say that my drivers door lock is inactive now. Its physically broken. I can't lock it with the key. Fob only. That's been a number of years, and I keep saying one day I'll fix it. Until then..

I've had my TDi for about 11 years now, and she's done 260,000 miles. I must say its the little things like locks and micro-switches, certain electronics that have been minor irritants. Overall, the car has been a good friend, and she's certainly worked for a living..

I've just changed my driver's side lock actuator, having bought an actuator via the sales section on this forum for £25 off a scrapped car.

The process is the same as the passenger side lock, but a little more tricky because you have to line up the long pin for the key lock. There is no key lock on the passenger side, if I recall correctly.

Helps to unbolt the exterior door handle

Slim hands help, to get a hand into the door to line things up. If you were chubby of hand then it would be more difficult.

I remember that lining up the lock barrel paddle with the slot opening in the lock is very tricky.

I think I found that it helped to remove the lock barrel from the door handle, fit the lock and latch and then the door handle. Then push the lock barrel and paddle into place.
... Or maybe fit the lock barrel paddle before the door handle, I don't remember.

Anyway, I think removing the lock barrel barrel from the handle made things much easier.

Hope that helps,
Steve

Tets hope you good

I would put a oner on it being a worn microswitch

Chris, no I still have not done mine, that and new sunroof remain the last 2 tasks after 1000 + hours saving a scabby old V70R and turning her into a Princess

Well almost ….

Cheers Bigfella.

Well, I spent a few hours today messing with the drivers door lock, blimey that lock cylinder rod is tricky, but all to no avail. Still no courtesy lights. The footwell and door edge lights are still ok, and they do seem to go out easier now, so I suppose that's a positive, but still no overhead console lights, well, there are, but they stay on constantly with the switch in the courtesy light position. Disappointed.
Passenger door next I suppose, but not yet, pretty cheesed off with locks at the mo.

Just a thought - mine does that occasionally, and it's nothing to do with the door, I can't remember what I do to cure it but it's essentially fiddling around with the switches in the roof for the interior lights (above the rear view mirror) and it eventually works as it should - might be worth having a play in that area to make sure it's not a red herring, as it were?

Cheers!

Just re-read the posts, if the footwell and door edge lights work there is no problem with the lock micro switches, more likely is a problem with the interior light switches itself,

The overhead light console has a printed circuit board for the switches, so I don't really know what that to do with that to be honest.
I did notice the passenger side footwell light and door edge light aren't working, so I took the red marker light off the door and the bulb was blown. I didn't check the footwell light bulb. I haven't got any capless 5w bulbs left now, so couldn't do much about it.
