My 2.5D did this when I first got it so I went around each door mechanism and sprayed copious amounts of dry PTFE into each mech. and gave each door a good (for the want of a better term) "work out" before the lubricant dried out. It seems to have done the trick but on occasion when opening the drivers door with the inside lever, the footwell light doesn't illuminate. If I jump out and pull the exterior handle it engages the light. I guess I'll have to apply the strip of plastic repair jobbie.

I know, matey, just trying to help in your moment of frustration. It would do no harm to remove the rear door locks to check their function. I hope you get it sorted one way or another!

I suppose the rear locks will have to come out at some stage.
I noticed something a bit odd yesterday.
Only the drivers side rear door had a red door edge light - which didn't work by the way - but no door edge light on the passenger side rear. Is that usual?
Never noticed it on any of my other V70's, but then again I never had cause to look too closely.
One thing I did notice as well when I got home from work, the footwell light never came on. I gave the interior handle a flick and it came on. Oh well.

I used my rear wiper this morning. First bit of damp I've had on the rear screen since I fixed it last Saturday. That was satisfying.

I had another quick look at this today.

The drivers side rear door edge light had no bulb in it when I removed it. I had a spare, so I fitted it, and guess what, it stayed on when I operated the lock.

I moved over to the passenger side, and found the door edge light is missing. The hole is there for it in the doorcard, but it's completely missing. It looks like both rear door locks need 'the treatment'. So Wednesday, weather permitting, that's what I'll be doing.
I will beat the so and so in the end.

Baffler, when you did the PTFE treatment, how much dismantling did you do?

Let there be light !!

I now have courtesy lights.
I did both rear locks today. I think all four locks were playing up to be honest.

They now come on correctly, go out with a delay, go out when the ignition is switched on, come on when the car is unlocked.

There were a few 'blast it' and a few more 'crivens', but it's done now.
Hope it lasts a while, because I'm sick of the sight of door locks.

Just spotted your reply...

I didn't dismantle any of the door cards, Tetleysmooth, I just went around each lock mechanism and liberally sprayed a PTFE spray into each one and open/shut the door several times to work the mechanisms. And, as it dries to a clear dirt/dust resistant film, as opposed to grease or oil, I also spray it on all hinges and exterior door handle inners which makes for easier opening.

Glad you got it sorted in the end!
