I have to say my 1995 850 was electronically perfect and never let me down over 14 of 17 years I owned it.....and is still going strong after I gave the car away. Don't be too cautious of the pre-ME7 equipment. I would have another in an instant.

As for high spec/low spec/torslanda, it's personal taste but I'd be more concerned about the basics such as mechanicals and view the high spec as the icing on the cake. If you really must have alloys for instance a good car with steel wheels that you can put your choice of alloys on would be a better option than a dog with alloys on already that needs an engine transplant, obviously factor it into the price but there's quite a few V70's and 850's out there to choose from and a reasonable supply of secondhand parts to do them up with. When I bought mine I took a couple of months just watching what was selling for how much to get a good idea of what I could expect for my money, ended up with a bargain at £800 then put the roof rails and spoiler on myself.

I inherited a v70 Torslanda, that had a rear spoiler added. I put on some 17in Titan alloys, got a Volvo CD player, and now you'd struggle to tell the difference between it and a T5. It has the half leather seats which in winter I prefer to the full leather seats I have in one of my other cars. A cracking car !

My '98 Torslanda has half leather, a/c (not that it works) and all elec windows. All very black inside. Mechanically excellent.
I'd put a spoiler on it but they ask for too much on ebay. Mine must be one of the only ones left without roofrails and spoiler.

I've got a red spoiler that you could have for £40 + Postage if that helps, or if you can wait a couple of weeks I'll be up in the Borders (GF family is near Coldstream) and could meet up nearer. Also have roof rails if you're interested in those as well... Let me know...
