Default V70 2003 won't start - turning over strong.

My 2003 V70 has been working perfectly, but won't start today. I assumed it was the battery, but I've had a 150A booster on it, and it just turns over and over hard, but no ignition at all.

So, battery ok, starter motor ok.

Is there anything specific to this car that I should consider before doing the usual?

I was considering:

1. Remove spark plugs to see if flooded, dry if so. Check if it's sparking to evaluate if the problem is the coil.

2. Check fuel supply/ pump is working.

3. Check and clean out air filter.

Anything else you'd recommend?

Thanks in advance!

One other thing to consider[if it's anything like my P1 V70]is the antenna ring around the ignition switch.Mine will sometimes fire up and die straight away while at other times it will just turn over without firing, most of the time it starts without problems. You've not had the key apart at all have you?Just wondering about the immobiliser chip in it.

Ah, I did wonder about the immobiliser. I've not had issues with it before, so I've just not been aware of it at all so far. I have tried a second key, but it's no different.

So, if the immobiliser is activated for some reason, does the starter motor turn over? My starter is going over hard, enough to cause ignition, but I'm getting nothing.

How much fuel is in the tank?
Is the car on level ground?

Plenty of fuel. Car is on the drive, nose up a foot or so. Should that matter? It hasn't for the past 2 years, but maybe if something's wrong....?

I can't even see the coil on this car. Is it under the spark plug cover?

Is this a petrol ?

What do you mean by plenty of fuel ? The gauge on these cars is less accurate than a long term forecast. 1/4 of tank may mean almost empty.

I don't think the coils would cause such issue, usually only one gives up but the engine still runs (and shakes). Antenna ring would cause no crank

Get a piece of paper towel - and a pair of safety glasses, and undo the small cap at the rail (either at the left or at the right), cover the valve with the paper and press down with a tip, see if these is some pressure in there.

I had arcing from my coil wiring which was tripping out fuse 20(from memory) preventing start.

Yes the wires are under the spark plug cover.
