Default Volvo Sensus Music: not showing all artists on media USB?

I've had my 2017 V90 for a couple of months now, and have put my entire music collection (33k songs) on a USB stick. The music is pretty well sorted in terms of ID tags and uses a folder structure of artist\album\track.

Since getting the car I've had the music playing in shuffle mode - it's such a nice novelty to finally have this feature in a car! Today, I fancied some Rage Against The Machine, so looked in Library for them and found they were missing, along with quite a lot of other artists. I even tried searching, and using the voice recognition, but neither of them could find anything by them.

I've seen a few older threads with similar problems which recommended checking the Artist and Album Artist fields are identical, but this was already the case.

Has anyone else come across this issue, and have you managed to find a solution?

Thanks for your time and help!

Have you ever thought about buying an Apple iTouch/iPod Classic - lots going on eBay for c £100 that will solve the above problems?

Not really - I used to have an ipod classic and really liked it, but the largest one (160Gb I think) just got too small - the music collection is about 280Gb now. I know there are modified iPods around with big SSD drives in them, but really was hoping to avoid further spending.

I guess if it comes to it I could use my phone as a media player - but it adds another layer of faff. I just want to have the music play when I get in the car, stop when I get out and then resume when i next get in.

Would I be right in inferring from your suggestion that Sensus is still a bit temperamental with media files?

Jeez, and I thought my iTunes library was large at 74GB/11,500 Tracks/32 days playing time.....!!
I can only presume that your tracks are in a very high storage format - flac?
Or perhaps your 280GB's worth of music contains a mix of videos/movies/etc as well which obviously you don't want cluttering up your iPad classic?

No, they're all just MP3 at 320kbps. Just lots of 'em!

So are mine - so a rough calculation shows your tracks will give you 120 continual days of listening time which assuming an average speed of 50mph is just under 150,000 miles.
So you have enough tracks to either:
1. Keep you going without repetition for the next 12½ years if you drive an average of 12,000 miles/year, or
2. To drive around the world 6 times. or
3. Take you halfway to the Dark Side of the Moon.......

But I am afraid this still does not solve your problem unless you have a purge of all the alternative version of the Pink Floyd tracks you may have accumulated.

Only 97 days according to MusicBee :-)

Does Sensus have a maximum number of files it can support? I'm still unclear about what the root of the problem actually is...

Edit: Very little Pink Floyd....lots and lots and lots of Neil Young though :-)

Is the iPod classic the only way around this, other than doing away with half my music collection?
