Yeah I'm pretty sure the diesels came with the T3, I don't think they ever got the Mitsu blowers. I'm also pretty sure all 940 turbo diesels were intercooled. |

Thanks for all the info guys! I’ve had the sump welded up now so just waiting for the sump gasket to come then put that back together. I’ve bought a cambelt and an injection pump belt to fit myself but I’m struggling to find any decent info on guide to do it! I enjoy tinkering and would be fine doing it with some accurate advise! Does anyone here have much experience in servicing this engine??

Not much experience, but have managed 3 belt changes and somehow it's still going...
If you need copies of the relevant manual pages you are welcome. The copy I have was photocopied by Volvo from an original (? may still be available) and the images have suffered as a result. As long as you are not removing the camshaft the only special tool you must have is 5187 (crank tool). I don't know if it's possible to replace the injection pump belt without removing the cam sprocket - if it is then tool 5190 won't be needed. I saw a recent post about someone offering to loan tools, but cannot recall the thread. jor

Ill do it for you, if you like. i charge £150 labour and usually a full belt kit is around £130 including a water pump.
Doing a cambelt on one of these engines is the single most difficult thing to, and is the most important thing to get right. Its also the reason why i have 5 engines with scrap heads lying around, because people dont take the nessecary precautions. I cannot stress enough how carefull you have to be. The main cause of snapped cams is failing tighten the bottom pulley to the correct torque. And trust me. Its bl**dy tight! |
