bloody hell the stuff is hard to work with in this weather ! so warmed it up nicely in a oven for 5 mins . Using a carwash and water mix to "lube" the clay. I was amazed at how much dirt came off ! around the drivers side rear wing was filthy after years of having diesel spilt all over it .

Going to do it again tomorrow and then give it a proper polish

smooth paint work has got to be worth 0.00008 of a BHP !
I'm sure I remember reading years ago (late 70s/early 80s)that a dirty car is more aerodynamically efficient than a clean car. Something to do with the rough surface creating minute vacuums which help drag the car along better

Of course, I also discovered beer in the early 80s so this may be clouding my recollection of events somewhat

I guess that depends on whether or not she's using it at the time

So what's involved in claying then? do you just wash the car as normal and then rub the wet clay bar over it or id there more to it than that?
I quite fancy giving it a go sometime, is there a difference between the different brands of clay bar or are they all much of a muchness?

Also is it even worth doing on cars that are well into their late teens, complete with scratches & rust or should I just subscribe to Banksy's theory that a dirty car is more aerodynamic than a clean one and spend the money on beer instead?

Full wash to remove all dust and things etc

nice spray bottle thing full of water and some car wash to act as a lube.
clay bar , nice and warm so its easy to use . Very very little pressure . manipulate bar to keep a clean surface . Always wet the surface you are working on . Amazing what it picks up !
And yet with out a doubt the paint feels smooooooother .

It should take about a hour

I've got some and used it on my 300 that I rally, yes, it makes a huge difference. I just don't particularly find that car washing is a great use of time so it gets done rarely!

I bought the bilt hamber one, firstly as you only need water to lubricate, but also as they like putting actual science and results on their site to back them up, just seems a credible business.

Not sure I'd want to use second hand used clay.

Definately worth doing as it really helps get rid of marks that washing won't touch.

I did small areas about a foot square and overlapped each square as I moved along.backwards and forwards motion and then side to side.criss cross.helps if you leave the bit you've just done so you can see where you've been.Very tempting to wash and buff each bit to see how good it is though.

Did my first bit on my Limo and was amazed.
Regards Brian.
