True..
I paid £800 for mine, and if I relied on garages I'd be bancrupt.. Whatever I can I do myself. Only if I cant- I pay. |

I would go for s80. Saloons tend to have had an easier life and are a lot cheaper.

Thanks all.
Just to pick up on a couple of points. I know my budget is low. This is only partly due to financial constraints. I've learned from past experience that regardless of how much I pay for a used car, I will have to pay typically up to a couple of grand in garage bills in the first year of ownership. This is true if I pay 500 quid or 5 grand for the car, so it's cheaper to just accept that it will need work, and buy cheap. That said, some cars are prone to insanely expensive faults. Others, much cheaper if they get the same fault. I'm also starting to wonder if my days of old car ownership are coming to an end. Leasing was mentioned. I may well look into that as an option. |

The phase 1 V/S70's have a lot less electronics in them to go wrong than phase 2 and beyond.
I chose a phase 1 over a phase 2 for that reason. Colin

Just a quick update. Once again thanks also for your input.
I've decided it's not time to come back to volvo for me yet. I just can't justify the expense at this stage. If I was less skint, I'd buy myself something lovely and big. But as it is, for now, I'm going to buy myself a cheap runabout that will hopefully last a little while until I can undo some of the recent battering of my finances. |
